The Frontier is seeking a political and state government reporter to join our team in Oklahoma.

We’re looking for someone who can deliver a mix of political news and longer-term, watchdog stories that hold our state leaders accountable.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have a passion for political reporting. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented with facts, a critical thinker, and able to stay on task to finish longer-term deeply reported stories. We are willing to consider someone who might have a little less experience if they are able and willing to take direction and grow to expand their investigative reporting skills.

You will join Oklahoma’s top nonprofit investigative newsroom. We have a small, dedicated team that regularly punches above its weight. The Frontier has a mission to produce fearless, independent journalism with impact. We hold those in power accountable, give a voice to the powerless, and tell stories that matter to Oklahoma.

The Frontier wants our newsroom to better reflect the communities we serve and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.

This position is based in Oklahoma City.

Salary: Negotiable.

Job requirements: BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.

Preferably 3-5 years journalism experience.

Skills: Demonstrated ability to write with authority, think critically, and produce original stories.
