Sand Springs city councilors unanimously approved a resolution this week authorizing the city’s attorney to file suit against “all necessary parties including the TCCJA, Tulsa County, the Tulsa County Sheriff and all beneficiary cities and towns to determine the rights and responsibilities of the city concerning operations of the jail.”

The city of Tulsa next week will begin preparing residents for a major change — the closing of Riverside Drive.
A two-mile section of the road — from 21st to 41st streets — will be closed from July 13 to the fall of 2017 to reconstruct the road. Local traffic only will be allowed along Riverside Drive from 35th place to 41st street.
Days ahead of their self-imposed deadline, county election board officials broke some news Tuesday afternoon: 6,647 signatures requesting a grand jury investigation of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office had been verified and turned over to the court clerk’s office.
