On this week’s Listen Frontier podcast we are talking women. Accomplished women, that is.
Our guests are Lacey Taylor, chairwoman of Madam President – A Night To Honor Tulsa Women Who Could Be President, and Mandy Winton, president of The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa.
Taylor provides details on the Madam President event and Winton talks about the League of Women Voters’ long history in Tulsa and the volunteer work the organization does.
The second annual Madam President event will be held May 9 at the Thomas K. McKeon Center for Creativity at Tulsa Community College downtown. The event honors local women who show a commitment to leadership and community service. And they don’t have to actually be qualified to be president.
Last year, Madam President honored 34 females, including former Mayor Kathy Taylor, Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Deborah Gist and a bright, independent 5-year-old.
Honorees will be recognized for their contributions to the community and guests will enjoy cocktails and hor d’oeuvres. Paintings from John Hammer will be raffled off.
