I cover the criminal justice system and I’m proud to be a part of a team of Oklahoma journalists dedicated to reporting the truth.

Earlier this year, I received a tip that a prisoner had made a 911 call from inside the Allen Gamble Correctional Center in Holdenville to report a knife fight that left one man dead. That doesn’t happen often, so of course I wanted to find out if this was true. For three weeks, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections denied that it happened. But after a source sent me the 911 calls, the agency confirmed it.

This year, I also reported that correctional officers at the state’s last-remaining private prison were skipping security checks and falsifying records.

We published my favorite story this year after I discovered that some Oklahoma police departments used training that was banned in other states.

I couldn’t have continued digging into these stories without your donations. Your contributions help uncover abuse, allow us the time to complete thorough investigations and help get records for our stories.

Thanks to grants and your donations, The Frontier hired two amazing reporters to join the team this year.

Now we have two more sets of boots on the ground working to bring you great journalism. So, thank you for contributing to our growing team.

I’m excited for 2025 because I watched what we produced this year and I know the staff at The Frontier will continue using your donations to put Oklahomans first. If you’ve considered donating but haven’t taken that next step, now would be the perfect time because you get the most bang for your buck.

Newsmatch, a collaborative fundraising movement, will match your donations up to $1,000 through Dec. 31.

For those who have already donated, thank you for making our work possible. Without you, I wouldn’t be working here bringing important criminal justice issues to the forefront.
