Elliott Williams was devoted to working in his parents’ ministry, his older brother testified Thursday. The siblings were close and saw each other at church three times each week.
Dr. Phillip Washburn, the jail’s medical director, didn’t respond to several requests from medical staff to examine Williams, a former director of nursing testified Wednesday.
In one instance, an inmate was “screaming and urinating blood.” Elandia Maloy testified. He needed to see an outside doctor, but jail administration would not approve the inmate to be seen.
“He would scream every night,” she said.
SQ 780 passed overwhelmingly and turned drug possession into a misdemeanor. If new proposed bill becomes law, much of Tulsa would revert to old rules.
The latest cost estimate was produced by the firm managing the project, Manhattan Construction, based on drawings done by Selser Schaefer, Janet Selser said, and reflects “every want that they (the county) wanted, which we all know that is not going to happen.”
Sheriff Stanley Glanz also was forced to explain his use of a racially offensive term — “negronoid” — and defend his claim that he’s an honest person.
Williams wasn’t treated with dignity by jail or medical staff, Allen said. Jail staff failed to ensure Williams had food and water, and didn’t clean him up properly when he defecated on himself.
Former Sheriff Stanley Glanz testified Thursday that he didn’t watch the video of Elliott Williams dying in his jail cell until a year and a half later when preparing for a deposition. He said his staff didn’t tell him to watch it.
