The department’s new Community Supervision Program would allow some nonviolent, minimum-security prisoners who are within 18 months of completing their sentences to be released under GPS supervision and supervision by a probation and parole officer.
The Oklahoma Water Resources Board is set to consider on Oct. 10 a proposed order that would send around 37.5 billion gallons of water annually from Sardis Lake and the Kiamichi River to Oklahoma City.

“This shows that the population growth and increased use of the local jail is not simply a matter of the expansion of the correctional system in Oklahoma generally,” the report concludes, “but reflects mostly local decisions and policies that result in incarcerating a greater share of people in jail pretrial than the county once did.”
The proposed rule would also eliminate “emergency” responses and replace them with “urgent” responses, which would allow investigators 24 hours to initiate an investigation, rather than the current 4 hours.
At least five lawsuits against Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health have been filed in both state and federal court since April.
The McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the allegations against the U.S. Marshals participating in the hunt for Aaron Paul Victory Sr., 38, who escaped from the Choctaw County Jail on Aug. 7. Allegations against the Marshals are that both men were physically assaulted and one of the men was put in a dog cage with a police dog.
Despite spending $2.2 million trying to stop drug users from getting public assistance funds, only 2.8 percent of applicants have tested positive.
