I think the universe is trying to tell us something:

My brother, a space nerd from way back, was the first to tell me about Pluto’s heart-shaped tattoo, and now it’s blowing up social media. This is incredibly cool, not to mention the planning and science that went into the Pluto Flyby.

I like the metaphor of us stripping Pluto of its dignity/status as a full planet and it sending back a heart pic.

As the kid sister of a space nerd and a native of Boulder, Colo., proud hometown of astronaut Scott Carpenter, two reads I heartily recommend (beyond the obvious awesome choice of “The Right Stuff”):

Packing for Mars” by Mary Roach
Science with a sense of humor. I just love her writing.

The Astronaut Wives Club” by Lily Koppel
They apparently made this into a schlocky TV mini-series, which I will skip. The book is a good read, full of interesting behind-the-scenes details.

And this has nothing to do with space, but the public demands more Goldie Hawn photos. She is almost always being bad or being really cute, sometimes both. Exhibit A.

Dammit, Goldie Hawn.
