Bartlett has made a political calculation that it makes good political sense to hitch his wagon to Trump. The presumptive Republican nominee may have finished third in the Oklahoma Republican primary for president, but he received the support of 23,927 Tulsa County voters, many of them from Tulsa.
The Tulsa mayoral primary is June 28. In addition to Mayor Dewey Bartlett and City Councilor G.T. Bynum, the other mayoral candidates are Tom McCay, Paul Tay and Lawrence Kirkpatrick.
The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa says its mayoral debate will go forward, with or without Mayor Bartlett. The mayor’s office hasn’t responded to emails, the League says.
