Shadowy groups that sometimes try to hide their funding sources are dumping millions into Oklahoma elections this year. Many of these organizations are super PACs — political action committees that can independently raise and spend unlimited amounts of money to promote candidates for office while circumventing campaign donation limits. While super PACs are required to publicly disclose their donors, funders can conceal their true identities through a confusing tangle of companies and nonprofit groups. Other organizations are nonprofit “dark money” groups that are not required to reveal their financial backers to the public.
These groups are making it difficult for Oklahoma voters to know who is financing the political messages filling their mailboxes and screens. The Frontier has combed through thousands of pages of political spending data to identify the independent expenditure groups active in Oklahoma’s 2026 elections and reveal some of their funders.
