I juggle multiple duties at The Frontier. Some days, I’m taking photos I hope won’t turn out blurry. On another day, I might be reporting breaking news, editing and helping a reporter fact-check an investigative story, or talking with attorneys about suing for public records to hold government officials accountable.

We have a tiny Oklahoma City office inside the radio station KOSU. If all our staff is there at the same time, our knees are touching.

The Frontier is small but scrappy. In just the last six months, our reporting has helped uncover questionable safety standards at a poultry plant where a man died after falling into an auger.

We fought to get Tulsa police disciplinary records that showed some officers got brief suspensions and didn’t face criminal charges after they were suspected of driving drunk.

We highlighted the growing number of homeless youth in Oklahoma and the lack of resources to serve them.

Our reporting, together with ProPublica, revealed how state regulators have failed to stop toxic oilfield wastewater from polluting Oklahoma soil and water.

We won a national Edward R. Murrow Award for our reporting with The Marshall Project about deaths at jails that contracted with an Oklahoma-based company for medical care.

A lot of hard work goes into making sure our reporting is accurate and fair. We spend weeks and sometimes months digging up records and convincing people to talk. Then there’s writing, rounds of edits and fact-checking.

Your donations help fund this work. Every dollar counts.

Now through the end of the year, your donations will be matched up to $1,000 through the collaborative fundraising movement Newsmatch. We can earn up to $12,000 with your help. Please consider donating to support our mission of independent journalism that shines a light on Oklahoma.
