Public official financial disclosure database

The Frontier has compiled a database of more than 300 public officials’ financial disclosures using Personal Financial Disclosure forms required to be filed with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission by all elected officials (including judges subject to retention to judicial office.)

Included in the database are financial disclosures from:

• All statewide elected officials
• State legislators
• District attorneys
• District, associate district and appeals court judges
• State Supreme Court justices

Each year between January 1 and May 15, elected and retained officials are required to fill out Personal Financial Disclosure Forms and submit them to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. Though the current forms are labeled as 2016 disclosures, they include some officials who took office in 2017.

The purpose of the forms is to publicly disclose and identify any conflicts of interest between an office holder’s public duties and their private economic interests, according to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.

Though the amount of money or interest an office holder has in a particular business or area is not required to be disclosed, filers must list interests in companies owned or that employ the office holder above certain thresholds. The filer must also report certain interests held by a spouse and/or dependents, according to Ethics Commission rules.

Using this database

Fields included in this database are:

• Last name: Office holder’s last name.
• First Name: Office holder’s first name.
• Office Held: Public office the individual was elected or appointed to.
• District/Statewide: The type of office held. For example, the Senate District that an individual was elected to or the county where the individual serves as a judge.
• Disclosure Year: Filing period the financial disclosure was filed. 2017’s disclosures are not due until May 15, 2018.
• Filer Material Financial Interest: The financial interests held by the office holder.
• Descriptions: Note(s) describing the nature of the financial interest held. Filling this out is optional, so not all interests listed will have descriptions.
• Filer Spouse Material Financial Interest: The financial interests held by the spouse of the office holder.
• Descriptions: Note(s) describing the nature of the financial interest held by the spouse. Filling this out is optional, so not all interests listed will have descriptions.
• Filer Dependent Material Financial Interest: The financial interests held by dependents of the office holder.
• Descriptions: Note(s) describing the nature of the financial interest held by the dependent(s). Filling this out is optional, so not all interests listed will have descriptions.
• Document: A link to the original document filed by the office holder that can be viewed for more information or to confirm the accuracy of the database entry.

Filer’s who have a * in their Filer Material Financial Interest column are newly-elected and have yet to file a financial disclosure form with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
