The bill requiring poultry house setbacks had been assigned to the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, which was scheduled to meet on Monday afternoon. But the meeting was cancelled by the committee’s chairman Rep. Dell Kerbs, R-Shawnee, before the bill could be heard.
A separate rule that would have lowered the permitted amount of the chemical selenium in most rivers and stream was withdrawn after the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality opposed the stricter requirements.
The rules, which are less strict than those that had been put out by ODAFF for public comment, must now get the approval of the Legislature and governor.
