Hitch in expansion plans threatens livelihood of Bristow hospital

A gleaming $45 million hospital in Jenks that opened last month has been unable to treat patients with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma insurance due to a contract dispute, leaving hospital owners worried about the future of the facility, its patients and nearly 130 employees, an investigation by The Frontier has found.
But perhaps the most damaging fallout is the possible closure of the Bristow Medical Center.

Skepticism, key details missing from stories on Glossip case

As the hour of his execution approaches, Richard Glossip is getting his 15 minutes of fame. And then some.

Glossip’s story will be featured on the Dr. Phil show Monday, the latest in a spree of national and international publicity for the Oklahoma death row inmate scheduled to die Sept. 16.

In their rush to build a compelling narrative of an innocent man about to be executed, some journalists who should know better have been remarkably incurious.

Sapulpa chief blasts Glanz’s ‘disrespectful’ letter on slain officer

Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz wrote a letter last week to Sapulpa Police Chief Rick Rumsey expressing condolences on the department’s loss of one of its officers. However, Glanz’s letter not only contained an incorrect name and rank for the officer, it substituted the name of the officer’s alleged killer.

The letter also offered to help the department during a difficult time.

But when Sapulpa police asked for help investigating an unrelated homicide during the officer’s burial, a major with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office reportedly responded: “Why would we do that?”

“Words cannot express the disappointment I feel toward you and your department,” states the letter from Rumsey to Glanz, obtained by The Frontier. “I have never witnessed such a break in our law enforcement family.”

‘Death row stories’

Ziva talks about appearing on CNN’s ‘Death Row Stories’ series, the continuing Glossip debate and a voice she was surprised to hear narrating for a news program.
