It’s time again for the monthly Listen Frontier/Teach for America podcast.

This month’s topic: empowering parents to become more involved in their children’s education.

Our guests are former Teach for America corps members who are teaching in the Union Public Schools District.

Jackie DuPont is an assistant principal at Rosa Parks Elementary School, and Emma Thadani is the community school coordinator at Ellen Ochoa Elementary School.

DuPont is a native of Springfield, Mo. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree in school administration from the University of Oklahoma/Tulsa.

As a 2010 Teach for America corps member, she taught first grade in Burroughs Elementary in Tulsa.

Thadani is from Oklahoma City. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied urban education and the biological basis of behavior. She earned a master’s degree in education policy and management from Harvard University.

She is a 2009 Teach for America corps member. As part of that program, she taught middle school science at Rio Grande Valley Middle School in Brownsville, Texas.
